Community of Practice

• Communities of practice are groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly
• Each session will be facilitated by Leadership Development Coach, Kathy Archer who will aid in:
• Sharing information
• Discussing best practices
• Learning from each other
• Discovering new knowledge
• Sharing common challenges

Why a Leadership Community of Practice?

• Being a leader in Home Visitation or Early Childhood support can have some unique challenges, including a sense of isolation and few opportunities to connect meaningfully with peers.
• Communities of practice are a valuable professional learning strategy that can support leaders, as they provide opportunities to:
  • Connect with others doing similar work throughout the province
  • Explore new possibilities, solve challenging problems, and create new, mutually beneficial opportunities.
  • Engage in mutual learning through communication, mentoring, coaching, and self-reflection.
  • Capture and share existing knowledge
  • Enter into the parallel process through collaboration
  • Generate new knowledge

There are two different Community of Practice Groups, one for Senior Agency Leadership, another for Team Leaders, Supervisors and Managers. Please ensure you join the relevant group.

Who Should Attend:

• Directors, Executive Directors or CEOs for nonprofit agencies that include Home Visitation and/or Early Childhood Family Programs
• Fourth Thursday of each month

Please note: A similar Community of Practice Group tailored to Supervisors, Team Leaders and Managers takes place on a different day, register for that one if it better fits your current role.

Facilitator
