Presents

Creating a Culturally Safe Practice

Incorporating Cultural Safety into your Professional Practice

Description: Participants will gain an understanding of how cultural values and assumptions can influence interactions between individuals and groups. Participants will practice using tools to support the development of culturally safe spaces

The intention is that all this will support a professional practice that enables open, non-judgmental conversations and interactions with others.

Date: Monday, October 16 & Wednesday, October 18 (Register by October 4)

Time:  9:00- 12:30pm

Location: virtual via ZOOM

Fee:

Family Resource Network (FRN) – Early Childhood Spokes: $0

Home Visitation Spoke: $0

AHNA Member: $35

Non-Member: $65

This workshop is in the pilot phase, and as such, groups will be smaller, changes may be made and extra feedback may be requested. Funding is covered by the Department for Women and Gender Equality (formerly Status of Women Canada)/Government of Canada.

Virtual Training Expectations:

  • As this is a virtual training, not a webinar, each participant must have access to a camera, mic and internet
  • Requirements to receive a certificate:
    • Attend the entire training, with camera on (infrequent breaks from the camera are permitted)
    • Participate in break out rooms and activities
  • Please contact AHVNA prior to registration if this is an issue and we can help problem solve.

We want you to get as much out of the virtual training as you would an in-person training!

Cancellation Policy:

Registration fees are non-refundable.

We encourage you to send a substitute if you are unable to attend the workshop, as there is a NO SHOW charge for all absent registrants. Cancellations need to be made ONE WEEK prior to the workshop date.

Should a workshop not reach its minimum registration requirement, it will be cancelled ONE WEEK prior to the workshop commencement date. Registrants will be informed by email or telephone, and registration fees will be refunded.
