Topic: Home Safety with Alberta Health Services
Injuries from falls, poisoning, and other household accidents are one of the leading causes of emergency department and urgent care visits across Alberta. Young children are particularly vulnerable to injuries within the home environment because they are curious and want to explore the world around them. During the presentation, we will discuss important strategies you can use with parents to improve safety in the home. Some discussion topics will include: Proper storage of chemicals and other hazards, measures to reduce household falls, and criteria for creating safe spaces for children.
About the HV Touchpoint Series:
HV Touchpoints are a way of connecting about topics related to the philosophy, practice and administration of Home Visitation.
Touchpoints will be focused on a specific topic and will have formats that encourage strong engagement from attendees in the form of questions, sharing and/or activities.
Some will have a primary speaker/presenter, while others will rely on our peers throughout the province to share a variety of resources, ideas and approaches.
Who should attend:
Individuals and teams involved in provincially funded Home Visitation in Alberta.
We suggest attending any of the series you feel will meet your team’s needs and include any team members who would benefit or be able to contribute to the conversation.
