Indigenous Traditional Parenting
Description:
Indigenous Traditional Parenting is a two-day training thoughtfully covering topics around colonization, traditional parenting, and reclamation & revitalization of a culture.
Participants will also have the opportunity to:
- develop a much greater awareness of the traditions of Indigenous People before Canada
- develop an awareness of colonization and its tools of oppression
- gain an understanding of colonization and its impact on Indigenous People and their families
- learn of Traditional Indigenous Parenting Program practices.
About the Facilitator:
Donna Webster is a proud Metis woman raised in the community of Lac La Biche, Alberta. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Professional Human Services, is a Certified Life Skills Coach and has been a Registered Social Worker with the Alberta College of Registered Social Workers for the past twenty-two years. She is the mother to Jessie and Gerry and a grandmother to Levi and Reece.
In her current role as Executive Director for the Lac La Biche Canadian Native Friendship Centre Association, Donna administers eight full time programs involving funding agreements with federal, provincial, and municipal governments. And in the past five years, has taken the Centre towards cultivating a social economic venture in Indigenous Cultural Tourism for the purposes of creating good conversation about the true history of Indigenous people in Canada.

A certificate will be provided to everyone attending the full two day training.

Cancellation Policy:
Registration fees are non-refundable.
We encourage you to send a substitute if you are unable to attend the workshop, as there is a NO SHOW charge for all absent registrants. Cancellations need to be made ONE WEEK prior to the workshop date.
Should a workshop not reach its minimum registration requirement, it will be cancelled ONE WEEK prior to the workshop commencement date. Registrants will be informed by email or telephone, and registration fees will be refunded.
