AHVNA presents
Virtual Motivational Interviewing Level 1
MI Level 1 – Online
This online course will use Zoom for an interactive, lively training. There will be four 3-hour Zoom sessions. Each session will combine a variety of learning activities including mini (really mini!) presentations, small group and individual activities, watching and analyzing video examples, and live practice with partners. There will also be some lively fun activities to keep us energized.
A workbook will be sent in advance (via email) which must be required printed off and brought to each of the training sessions. A pre-workshop information worksheet is required to be completed prior to the first session. Attendance and participation in all sessions for all entire time is required to receive a certificate of completion.
A stable Internet connection is essential, a computer with microphone and video capabilities (phones are possible but not recommended) and basic familiarity with Zoom software to participate in this online workshop (A link to an Introduction to Zoom can be sent if you are not familiar with it – it’s not hard to learn!).
Level 1 Learning Goals
Participants will be able to:
- describe MI’s spirit, tasks and skills
- explain why people do and do not change and how practitioners can influence the direction of a meeting
- increase activities that encourage change and reduce activities that interfere with change
- recognize and respond to change talk
- provide information in an MI style

- Participate in break out rooms and activities
- Please contact AHVNA prior to registration if this is an issue and we can help problem solve.
We want you to get as much out of the virtual training as you would an in-person training!
